Climate Action Programme: Help and resources

The Climate Action Programme provides dedicated, long‑term support to help tourism businesses reduce carbon emissions, improve efficiency and become more sustainable. Businesses work with an expert advisor over a three‑year period to assess their current impact and implement practical climate action measures. 

The programme helps tourism businesses cut costs, improve operational efficiency and strengthen sustainability credentials. It also supports businesses to respond to visitor expectations, regulatory change and rising energy costs, while future‑proofing long‑term performance. 

Applicants must: 

• Be a tourism business operating in the Republic of Ireland 
• Offer a demonstrable tourist product or experience for domestic and/or international visitors 
• Operate from an owned or leased building 
• Spend at least €10,000 per year on energy (excluding transport energy) 
• Be established, tax‑registered and tax‑cleared in Ireland 

Accommodation providers must also meet Fáilte Ireland quality registration or approval requirements. 

You apply by submitting an Expression of Interest through the Climate Action Programme section of the Fáilte Ireland website. This allows Fáilte Ireland to assess whether your business is a suitable fit for the programme. 

After you submit an Expression of Interest, your information is reviewed by the Fáilte Ireland team. If your business meets the criteria and capacity is available, you will be contacted with details of the next steps.
